UK Govt Announces 7th Carbon Budget

Jun 11, 2026

On 2 June 2026, the government published its proposed level for the 7th Carbon Budget, (as advised by the Climate Change Committee), which sets out ambitious targets for the future, including 87% emissions reduction in the period 2038 to 2042.

With energy costs currently soaring due to the war in Iran, the UK public sector is faced with the seemingly impossible challenge of meeting mandatory carbon emissions targets, whilst at the same time reducing their annual energy expenditure. Green Earth currently supports over 200 public sector organisations across the UK, helping them significantly reduce their heating costs and carbon emissions – often by 20-30% – without any disruption to their operations.
