Local RSPCA Invites Families to First Ever Charity Race Night

Sep 16, 2026

The RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield and Bradford Branch is calling on local animal lovers for an evening of exciting entertainment, friendly competition, and fundraising at their first ever race night, The Doggy Dash, on Friday, 25th September.

Naturally, no dogs will be made to race – instead, the family-friendly event will replace real dogs with wooden pooches, which will go head-to-head on the track to see who can reach their forever home first. Participants have the chance to name a hound themselves, a great way to honour beloved pets, with six races scheduled.

The Huddersfield Lions Club will host the event on the night in support of the local, self-funded charity, having recently visited their animal centre in Halifax and kickstarting fundraising with a generous £200 donation.

Taking place at the Lindley Liberal Club in Huddersfield, tickets are priced at £8 per person, which includes a delicious hot supper of pie and peas. Attendees can look forward to race night totes and cash prizes, a dedicated children’s race at the start of the evening, a raffle, tombolas and more opportunities to win prizes throughout the night, along with a fully stocked bar and refreshments.

All proceeds from the event will go directly toward the branch’s Really Big Refurb project and help support the care of local animals currently residing at the shelter, such as Marley (pictured) who is currently available for rehoming.
