Maternity Bereavement Appeal Charity Ball
Have you, a family member, friend, or colleague ever been affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, or pregnancy loss?
Sadly, baby loss touches far more families than many people realise. Around 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage, while thousands of families each year face the heartbreak of stillbirth or neonatal death.
In 2023 alone:
2,612 babies were stillborn in England and Wales.
1,766 babies died within their first 28 days of life.
On average, 8 babies are stillborn every day.
Behind every statistic is a family whose life has changed forever.
To help support bereaved families, the Maternity Bereavement Appeal is raising £500,000 to build a dedicated Maternity Bereavement Suite at Calderdale Royal Hospital. This much-needed facility will provide a private, peaceful, and compassionate environment where families can spend precious time with their baby and receive specialist support during their darkest moments.
