Saudi Arabia & Philippines join ATA Carnet scheme

Here is the latest update regarding Saudi Arabia and the Philippines joining the ATA Carnet Scheme.

Saudi Arabia:

ATA Carnets will be accepted by the Saudi Customs for the following categories of goods: goods for display or use at exhibitions, fairs, meetings.

  • The following types of goods require prior approval from the Saudi authorities: Live animals, books, periodicals, movies, and tapes; religious books and tapes; wireless equipment and radio-controlled model airplanes; horses; products containing alcohol; archaeological artefacts.
  • The following types of goods are not allowed into Saudi Arabia on ATA Carnets: any materials contrary to the Islamic culture, pornographic materials, distillery equipment, rethreaded or used tyres, religious sculptures or sculptures depicting nudity.
  • Replacement Carnets: Carnet Holder must contact Saudi Customs before the Carnet expires to request approval for the Replacement Carnet (extension). Customs Control Department Tel: 19993.

Philippines:

ATA Carnets will be accepted by the Philippine Customs for the following categories of goods: goods for display or use at exhibitions, fairs, meetings or similar events, Commercial Samples and Professional Equipment.

  • ATA Carnets are not accepted for transit.
  • ATA Carnets are not accepted for postal traffic.
  • Importation or re-exportation in multiple split consignments is not accepted. However, importing only a part of the goods listed in the General List (GL) is allowed, while the rest of the goods remain in the country of exportation, under the condition that the said imported goods are to be re-exported in one consignment.
  • Customs Offices: All Customs offices at points of entry/exit and express consignments offices are authorised to accept and process ATA Carnets. For specific port information please contact the MY Export Hub team.
