The award-winning team at Yorkshire-based Parsons, Chartered Accountants has committed to fundraising for national charity ANDYSMANCLUB, throughout 2024.
Parsons supports one chosen charity each year through activities coordinated by a dedicated Parsons Business For Good committee, from bake sales to sponsored sporting challenges. Every November the entire team is invited to nominate charities before a firm-wide vote selects a winner to receive support for the following year.
Sixteen worthy causes were nominated this time, with nominees including The British Heart Foundation, Wakefield Hospice, Leeds Mind and Cancer Research UK. Winning a majority of the team vote, the new year opened with an announcement that ANDYSMANCLUB is the Parsons Business For Good charity for 2024.
Lucas Whitehead, Head of Marketing at ANDYSMANCLUB said, “ANDYSMANCLUB are delighted to receive the support of Parsons as a part of their Parsons Business for Good programme. As a charity, we are completely donation-led, any support of this nature will help us further our growth throughout the UK and continue to hit that one man in his hour of need. The varied fundraising efforts of the Parsons team throughout the year will undoubtedly play a large factor in this!”
ANDYSMANCLUB takes its name from Andrew Roberts, a man who sadly took his own life aged 23 in early 2016. Andy’s family had no inkling that he was suffering or struggling to the extent that he would do this, and as a result looked deeper into male suicide and men’s mental health. They soon discovered that male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50, with male mental health surrounded by well-ingrained cultural stigma in the UK. The charity works towards eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health and creates a judgment-free, confidential space where men can be open about the storms in their lives. They achieve this through weekly, free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups for men aged over 18.
Finlay, Audit and Accounts Trainee at Parsons said, “It’s great to be part of a team which acknowledges the importance of mental health and takes proactive action to make a positive social impact. ANDYSMANCLUB provides incredible support to men everywhere. Their resources and compassionate community are an anchor to an ever-growing community of men who benefit from the safe space they create for open discussions.”
Kay, Bookeeper at Parsons said, “We all have important men in our lives and it’s heartbreaking to know that suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50. This is a cause which will be close to all of our hearts and it’s good to know that our efforts will make a difference – not only in terms of raising vital funds, but also helping to break the stigma that surrounds male mental health.”
