LOCAL RSPCA & HALIFAX MINSTER CELEBRATE WORLD ANIMAL DAY WITH FUN AND QUIRKY ANIMAL BLESSING SERVICE

Sep 27, 2022

THE RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford & District branch in partnership with Halifax Minster are set to hold their annual animal blessing service in celebration of World Animal Day on Sunday 2nd October.

This annual service celebrates World Animal Day by giving attendees the chance to bring their beloved pets along to an animal friendly service, with reader Trish giving each animal their own blessing.

The light-hearted service will include light refreshments for people and their pets and takes place at 2.00pm on Sunday3rd October at Halifax Minster, Causeway, Halifax, HX1 1QL.

Fay Gibbons, Digital Fundraiser said “World Animal Day is such a special day and what better way to celebrate than with this fun and unique service, in the beautiful settings of Halifax Minster. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience to have our furry friends join us in the pews, so why not join us and be part of this special occasion!”

All animals are invited to attend, but dogs must be kept on a lead and small animals (such as cats, hamsters, rabbits etc) kept in carriers. All animals will be blessed in their seat and the service usually lasts around 45 minutes. Photos can also be blessed for anyone who has lost their pet or would find it too difficult to physically attend.

The RSPCA animal centre in Halifax is a self-funded, local charity and is hoping to raise awareness of the animal welfare work they do within the Halifax, Huddersfield and Bradford areas. All proceeds raised on the day will be split between the RSPCA branch and the Halifax Minster.
