University of Huddersfield wins Queen’s Award for Enterprise

May 11, 2022

The institution takes great pride in how it has fostered its international links in recent years, and currently welcomes around 3,400 students from 100 different countries.

In the last three years the university has seen a 510% increase in the numbers of postgraduate students from its key overseas markets, including India, Nigeria, China, Pakistan and Kuwait.

This has helped it garner the Queen’s Award for International Trade for Outstanding Short-Term Growth in overseas sales.

The university’s response to the challenge of Covid-19 also helped its international students, with all teaching delivered online and an assessment process, called Score As I Learn, monitoring learning progress on a weekly basis.

University vice-chancellor Prof Bob Cryan said: “The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is announced on Her Majesty’s birthday and is reserved for the most outstanding UK organisations.

“We have set an ambitious strategy around our international development so I am tremendously proud that our achievements have been recognised through a prestigious Queen’s Award for International Trade.

“This is hot on the heels of the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for our research and so represents a remarkable year for Team Huddersfield. My many congratulations and thanks to all of those involved.”
